T-8 days

In 2001, when I saw the "Fellowship of the Ring" on opening day in theaters (yes, I know I'm a nerd), I decided right then and there that I wanted to travel to New Zealand. For anyone who hasn't seen the trilogy, the scenery is just breathtaking. I wanted to explore the houses of Hobbiton, walk through Chetwood forest, and hike up Mount Doom.

Twelve years later, I am finally getting that chance. In just 8 short days, I will be flying halfway across the world to Christchurch, New Zealand where I will be studying at the University of Canterbury for my Spring semester. Next Tuesday, I will leave the Indianapolis Airport, where I will fly to Chicago, LAX, Auckland, and finally over to Christchurch on the southern island of New Zealand. I will be flying for a grand total of 25 hours (fingers crossed for no delays). It's on my to-do list this week to stock up on books, magazines and movies for that day.

I started packing this weekend, and it finally set in that I would be leaving soon. This trip has been in the works for awhile now, and I just can't believe that I am actually leaving in 8 days. Though it is strange that I will not be heading back up to Mac this spring, I am very, very excited to be studying abroad this semester. This is such a great opportunity, and I cannot wait to explore another country, meet new people, and have new adventures.

I will try to update this blog as much as I can while I'm over there with stories of my travel or studies. Feel free to leave comments on my posts with suggestions or just to say hi!

Talk to you in New Zealand :)
